Tadoussac,
400 years of History

The first permanent settlement as a trading venture
with the First Nations was indeed established in Tadoussac
as was the first dwelling. The year 2000 coincides
with the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Pierre
de Chauvin de Tonnetuit, a merchant of Honfleur who
left l6 men behind in a "country-seat" and
of which only five survived, helped by Chief Anadabijou
and his band. This year, Tadoussac's population highlights
this major event in Canada's history with important
festivities.
Each
year, Tadoussac, gateway to the North Coast, welcomes
thousands of visitors in an enthralling setting. Between
its interpretation centers and hiking trails, its
popular whale watching cruises and vast array of nautical
activities, each visitor can personally discover and
admire the small picturesque hamlet, nestled in one
of the worl's most beautiful bays.
Every
season is captivating, whether it's fall with its
exploding colours in the mountains around Tadoussac,
winter with its sparkling white coat and easy access
to snowmobiles, spring and summer offering thousands
of little treasures to be discovered, they all contribute
to making this place a magnificent paradise ,,,,,,where
the awe-inspiring Saguenay joins the majestic St-Lawrence
River. Get ready for some great "surfing"!
