FESTIVAL
DE LA CHANSON (SONG FEST)
Since
1984, the Tadoussac
Song Fest gives the local population,
as well as visiting tourists, the opportunity to discover
French song writers and singers from Quebec and elsewhere,
in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Over the years,
the Festival has enjoyed the presence of a faithful
and eager audience.
Through
an efficient program and dedication, the Festival was
able to aquire an enviable reputation in the cultural
field; despite its modest status, the "biggest
of the small" festivals is a major event.
The
Festival de la Chanson de Tadoussac's concept favours
the relations between the artist and the public and
allows the spectator to enjoy several shows each evening.
The passport, schedule, eight stages in a radius of
2 kilometers, everything is conducive to the spectators'
quest of discovery.
A
cultural, social and economical role
When
the Festival de la Chanson de Tadoussac was launched
in 1984, it took place in mid-August. Since 1993, it
was moved to the second week-end in June, at the start
of the traditional vacation season and that proved to
be successful. In addition to its cultural role, the
Festival de la Chanson de Tadoussac strives to participate
in the economical development of the region.
TheFestival
de la Chanson de Tadoussac is the achievement of the
efforts and implication of a whole community. Since
it's beginnings, hundreds of volunteers have contributed
to the festival's success, making it a most popular
cultural event on the North-Shore. The 1999 edition
saw 125 volunteers uniting their efforts and talents.
Without the support of the whole community, the Festival
de la Chanson de Tadoussac, as it exists today, would
cease to be.
